All power is given unto our Lord,
On Him we place reliance;
With truth from out His sacred word
We bid our foes defiance.
With Him we shall prevail,
Whatever may assail;
He is our shield and tower,
Almighty is His power;
His kingdom is forever.
Many times have I proved the truth of these words in a hymn (Christian Science Hymnal. No. 10). In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy tells us (p. 228); "There is no power apart from God. Omnipotence has all-power, and to acknowledge any other power is to dishonor God." Therefore we need not fear anything which does not express the perfection of God. In Genesis we read that God made man in His image and likeness; hence man reflects all the qualities of his Maker, the All-in-all.
In gratitude I look back in my experience to forty years ago, when I found Christian Science. At that time I was living in constant fear, but there has been a great change for the better in my life during the years. Through my study of Science I soon learned many fundamental truths concerning man's relationship to God. When I honestly applied these truths in my daily affairs I gained new courage, spiritual strength, hope, and faith to withstand all that is unlike God, good.
