Some years ago I was away on holiday...

From the June 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Some years ago I was away on holiday with a friend who I knew attended a Church of Christ, Scientist; so I asked if I might go along to a service with her. The subject of the Lesson-Sermon as given in the Christian Science Quarterly that week was "God," and I was so impressed with the peace and calm of the beautiful service that I decided then and there I had found the religion I wanted.

Since that memorable day I have had many healings through the study of Christian Science, both physical and mental. I am most grateful for a better understanding of supply and true substance, which I profitably utilize in these days of increased taxation.

One of the experiences I shall always be grateful for is an instantaneous healing of lumbago. I had arranged to attend a meeting in connection with church activity, which was being held in a city several miles from my home, and upon awakening on the morning of the meeting I found I could not move. A friend telephoned a practitioner for me, who lovingly sent me a message from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 283): "Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action." When reading this message I saw the truth so clearly that I was able to get up and dress. I set off for the meeting in the evening, and when the bus came there was room only upstairs; so I ran up without hesitation. That was the end of the condition, for I was not troubled with it again.
