It has been my desire for some time to express my appreciation of Christian Science. Ever since I began the study of Christian Science, when I was old enough to go to the Sunday School, it has been proved to me that this Science is a demonstrable religion. Soon after I left Sunday School it was my privilege to have class instruction. During the next several years, while I was living on a ranch far from other Christian Scientists, my family had many instances of protection and healing. One such instance was the immediate healing of a high fever from which my son was suffering. The child was told to repeat "the scientific statement of being" from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 468). He repeated it carefully several times and was completely free.
Later, when we were living in Salt Lake City, Utah, my three-year-old daughter decided to cross a busy street and go to the business section of the city to see a friend. Thinking that she was playing with another little girl, I did not miss her until two hours later. Declaring for her the truth that God is the Father-Mother who tenderly cares for all His little ones, I looked for her around the block in which we lived. A friend advised calling the police department. Looking out the window just then, we saw her coming directly to our house, proving that "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way" (ibid., p. 454).
My son, when in the first grade, contracted diphtheria. A practitioner worked for him, and he was completely healed in three days. I am grateful for the spiritual growth I have gained in helping to start a Christian Science Society and especially in teaching in the Sunday School.
