Testimonies of Healing

"Oh that men would praise the Lord for...

From the July 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" These words, repeated four times in the one hundred and seventh Psalm, prompt me to comply with them by sending a testimony for publication. Although I have voiced my thanks at Wednesday testimony meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, I feel that I have too long delayed expressing my gratitude through the periodicals.

I have had many and varied healings through the years since a loving sister brought Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy into our home. Some of the healings have been brought about with the help of a Christian Science practitioner and some have come through my own understanding. Through the work of a practitioner I was healed of kidney stones. The healing took a while before it was completed, but through the practitioner's clear understanding that there was nothing to pass away but error, all fear was destroyed and the healing came. The spiritual gain from this trial has been a pearl of great price.

A prolonged mesmeric fear of driving an automobile was met in a short time with the help and assurance of this same practitioner, who referred me to the sentence in Science and Health (p. 199), "The devotion of thought to an honest achievement makes the achievement possible." My desire was honest and right, and my only necessity was to understand more of God's creation. My freedom came, and I took instruction in driving and passed my tests perfectly. The experience brought me a higher understanding of God's universe.
