Christian Science came into my home about forty-five years ago. Since that time it has been my only physician, and I have desired no other religion. During my boyhood I had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School and received many benefits, which included the completion of my education at school and university, although sufficient funds were not at first available. While at the university I applied for and was admitted to membership in The Mother Church and a branch church.
Later, while employed by a company operating in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan, I had to face the loneliness of a desert country. Although I had practically no contact with Christian Scientists and frequently was without the companionship of Europeans, I found that Science met my needs. During this time I was healed of malaria, which has not recurred in over twenty years.
After four years' residence overseas Christian Science enabled me to leave the Sudan, return to England, and start a different career. This gave me the opportunity to visit The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts, and to obtain class instruction. For the inspiration of that instruction and for the subsequent annual association meetings I am truly grateful.
