WHERE DO WE STAND?

From the September 1954 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is customary for a political party at the beginning of its campaign to adopt a platform or program setting forth its aims or objects. Thus the party indicates where it stands. The candidates then go before the public, supporting in their campaigns the program which has been adopted. Occasionally, after the election, the party fails to fulfill its pledges and thereby invites defeat at the next campaign.

The question, "Where do I stand?" confronts every one of us today. And the answer to this query demands clear and honest thought.

The Christian Scientist has a platform upon which to stand, and it is divinely inspired. It is presented in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (see pp. 330-340). Its importance to individual growth is indicated in Mrs. Eddy's statement (ibid., p. 330), "When the following platform is understood and the letter and the spirit bear witness, the infallibility of divine metaphysics will be demonstrated." Here is a glorious promise. Let us see how it was fulfilled in the experience of one student of Christian Science.
