It is indeed with deep and sincere gratitude for the great blessing that Christian Science has been to me over the past thirty years that I give this testimony. The religion in which I had been carefully brought up as a child failed to answer my questions about life, and I came to the conclusion that I did not need God and would make my family, my home, and my material pleasures suffice.
Then when I had all these things, I began to suffer from an internal trouble, which followed the birth of my second child. I was told by a specialist that even after a necessary operation I would still have to live a life of semi invalidism. For six months I was unable to walk about, and I lost interest in whether I became well or not. At this point a neighbor brought me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, saying she thought it might interest me.
I cannot remember the various stages of thought which I passed through while reading the book, but in less than three months I discarded the surgical belt which I had worn continually and was walking about without the aid of any material support, quite free from the pain which had been with me constantly. This healing has been permanent.
