Thirty years ago I accepted Christian Science as my guide to life when a friend showed me "the scientific statement of being" on page 468 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When I read, "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all," I realized that therein was a definition of God which had meaning for me and which I could accept without reservation.
Though the need for physical healing had nothing to do with my original interest in Christian Science, I have observed and experienced many examples of healing through spiritual means alone. Some of these were instantaneous healings under varying circumstances, and I hope I can relate three of them in such a way as to be helpful to others who read them and who are in need of healing.
When our son was three years old he manifested an increasingly high temperature over a period of five days. I was still young in Science and was interested in it essentially as a religious philosophy, understanding almost nothing of its healing Principle. I was convinced, however, that it had healed others and would do the same for me and for my child. I held to the truth as I understood it, but on the fifth day I became extremely fearful when he manifested evidence of delirium. When I was most in need of help, a relative of my husband who had long been a student of Science and who had been visiting in the city, called to say good-by. When she inquired about the child I told her that he was very ill, and that I wished she would come to see him.
