"THE ONE DIVINE METHOD"

From the April 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science is religion in the truest sense of the word. It is a way of living rather than a theory about life.

Under the marginal heading "The one divine method" in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy states (p. 344), "There are various methods of treating disease, which are not included in the commonly accepted systems; but there is only one which should be presented to the whole world, and that is the Christian Science which Jesus preached and practised and left to us as his rich legacy."

The Christian Science method of healing is distinguished from all other methods. Revealing as it does the absolute allness of God and His inseparable unity with His creation, this Science discloses God's unfailing readiness and ability to meet the human need, whatever it may be. Christian Science requires of its adherents more than a mental affirmation of Truth. It requires the practical application of Truth in daily living, bearing witness in our lives to the omnipresence of God and its consequence—the nonexistence of matter with its enslaving beliefs.
