Through the leaven of Spirit mortal thought is changed. This action is as definite, as practical, and as permanent as is the change effected by yeast in the properties of bread dough. The action of Truth in the human consciousness effects a mental and moral chemicalization which changes the basis of thought from matter to Spirit. No one can accept the truth contained in the Bible and in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy without experiencing this chemicalization.
As the human mind changes from belief in and dependency upon matter to full reliance upon Spirit, the human body is renewed. Paul entreats us (Rom. 12:1,2): "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
To seek healing through scientific prayer is to open the way for the action of the Christ to transform both mind and body. It is to ensure moral progress and heightened mental powers, as well as to achieve complete redemption of the body. Paul again encourages us in the matter of physical and moral healing when he writes (Rom. 8:19, 21): "The earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.... Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God."
