The Season of Soul

From the April 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Life is complete: from the first leaf's flush
To the year's autumnal tracery—
Lush green and crimson unite as one
Sweet overflow; perennial
Is all the joy and fruitage of God's man.

Today is forever ours,
This day is forever dawning,
The light that forever flowers into everlasting morning,
The Life forever brightening
In one eternal span.

For good shines through all human hopes and earthly tears
To where we are, and our identity
Effortlessly unfolds
And flowers now as God's fulfillment, man.

Lift up your eyes now, look upon the fields,
Already they are white to harvesting.
The sower and the reaper may rejoice
Together, now and here
They have the fruitage of eternity:

Here, giving and receiving bud and bloom,
Sweet blessings, blossomings of Love. Forever
Love inspires, illumines, and freshens the whole
Fragrance of being,
Bathing the heart with all the season of Soul.
