A KINGDOM INVIOLATE

From the July 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The kingdom of God is as natural and available as the multiplication table because it is ever present. Jesus evidently meant that it was a state of consciousness, not a locality, for he said (Luke 17:20, 21), "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

To reach the kingdom of God and rest therein we must establish the facts of spiritual existence, which is already within reach of each one of us. We must deny the false sense of material existence, which continually clamors for recognition, and direct our efforts to the acquirement of spiritual sense, which leads directly to the recognition of spiritual consciousness.

A clear understanding of spiritual existence would enable one to demonstrate complete dominion over sin, sickness, and death. This understanding would mean spiritual ability to reflect only divine intelligence and to possess an incorporeal sense of life which would obliterate time, matter, and limitation. The reign of harmony is the kingdom of God, and to this end the spiritual education of a Christian Scientist is directed.
