"He leaping... stood, and walked"

Acts 3: 1-8

From the July 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It was not sympathy or worldly wealth
That came to him who sat beside the gate;
But those who knew the nature of the Christ
Revealed to him his sonship, pure and free.

He leaped and stood. It did not take him time
To gain control. Strength from above was his.
No fetters can withstand the power of God;
The outstretched arm of Love supports, upholds.

He witnessed to the healing power of Truth.
Through faith before unknown he walked, and thus
He found his steps were ordered by the Lord.
He entered in to praise and worship God.

When first we glimpse the truth of God and man,
When inspiration lifts us, may we stand
Unmoved by doubt or fear; and knowing, prove
We stand with Truth—we stand on holy ground.

Because Love leads the way, we rise and walk
With grace of movement, joy of life unbound,
With steps unhampered. Praising God, we go
To worship gratefully, and humbly serve.
