The greatest day of my life was the one...

From the August 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The greatest day of my life was the one when I was invited to a Wednesday testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist, and heard testimonies of the practical nature of Christian Science. In the seven years since then my cup has overflowed with joy and happiness greater than I had ever known before. Among my blessings is my wife, who is a class-taught student of Science.

I came into Science, as many others do, for physical healing. For years I had suffered from severe headaches, and the doctors were unable to do anything for me. When I first read a piece of Christian Science literature, a current issue of the Journal, I felt the healing begin. It was slow but continuous, and it brought me complete freedom from the headaches. Now I feel as if I had never known what a headache was.

Christian Science helped me at the time my mother passed on. We had always lived together, and from earliest childhood I had dreaded the time when the two of us would be separated. However, several years' study of the teachings of Christian Science helped me to see something of the unreality of death and the eternality of Life. This, together with the help of a practitioner, enabled me to know that my mother in reality was still with me, since spiritual selfhood never dies. In the two years which have passed since that experience there has not been any sense of loss.
