It is with sincere gratitude that I offer this testimony in the hope that it may help others as testimonies have helped me.
Before I began the earnest study of Christian Science, I was told that I would never again be able to talk above a whisper. This was very alarming to me, since I was about to graduate from college, where I had been preparing myself to become a schoolteacher. My condition was diagnosed as a growth on a vocal chord which only surgery could help. I was much discouraged about my future, as speech was essential to the profession for which I had trained.
My mother, a student of Christian Science, had helped me to gain some understanding of the truths it taught. I realized that this was a testing time, and I called a friend who was a practitioner. After I had stated the case in whispering tones, she lovingly said that she would help me. She told me to study the ninety-first Psalm and Chapter I of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, putting emphasis on the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation on pages 16 and 17.
