"Man's extremity is God's opportunity." The truth of this saying has often been proved to me. As a child I enjoyed reading the Bible, and my father once said to me: "There is a God, but the church and the schools do not teach us the right way to Him. There is something missing." It was not until years later that I learned to pray aright.
Through a dear friend, I found my way to Christian Science. I was given a copy of The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition), and despite my initial skepticism, I studied eagerly. The very first article I read made an appeal to my innermost nature. I remembered my father's words, for I knew that in this article I had discovered at last the "something missing." I had found the way to God through the healing Christ I had so long sought.
A practitioner lent me the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When I reached home I read until far into the night without being tired. The next morning I arose very early and felt as though I were newborn. I had been healed of a dull pain in my head, and fear of the future had disappeared. My husband then became interested also in this wonderful teaching of Christian Science. He studied the textbook and was healed of dropsy.
