Key of David

From the December 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

No blueprint. No road map. But light!
Flower of flame in the night
And column to guide by day,
Marking the way.

Christ risen from the tomb
Shuts off the dark room,
Forestalls defeat,
Cuts off retreat.

The old commandment, the new,
Christ offers you;
With key of Truth unseals
What saves, and heals,

Closes forevermore
The way back, shuts the door
Emerged from, opens wide
To the forward stride

Adventure beyond scope
Of yearning or of hope,
Gives freedom to express
The true success.
