Over thirty years ago Christian Science was brought to me by a young woman living in the same apartment building in which I lived. I was a very sick woman, having suffered for several years, and I was frightened by the prospect of a major operation. In addition, I was grieving over the passing of my mother.
The young woman came on a neighborly call and did not mention Christian Science. During the visit, however, I felt a sense of great peace, and I finally asked her, "Are you a Christian Scientist?" She said she was. I told her of the peace she had brought, and I asked her to tell me more about her religion. She said she would bring some literature.
She brought some copies of the Journal and of the Christian Science Sentinel, and I read all the wonderful healings related in them. When I returned them I asked her many questions. She was very patient, sweet, and helpful in answering my questions. She let me have "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and told me that spiritual understanding would come to me as I read it. After reading the blessed truths, I knew I must have a copy of Science and Health of my own, and I have never been without one since.
