WORK WITHOUT WORRY

From the December 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Divine Mind's activity is effortless. It is the harmonious unfoldment of spiritual ideas. God has already done all, and what He has made is perfect. He is changeless Being, ever developing the business of the universe. As we read in the Gospel of John 1:3), "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."

Spiritual man, the incorporeal idea of God, reflects Mind's unlabored activity. Man's ideas flow from Mind, and his ability is of God. Man's function is to express God, to be His witness. When we demonstrate the Mind which is God through the expression of such qualities as intelligence, love, thoroughness, and accuracy, the consciousness of perfect activity is ours.

A false sense of responsibility is based on the erroneous premise that we are corporeal persons who must accomplish certain results by our own mental or physical labor within the limits of time and space. True activity takes place in the timeless infinitude of spiritual being and cannot be materially measured or outlined. This activity is regulated by God's law of perfect order and co-ordination. As we realize these spiritual facts, we are able not only to achieve more in human experience, but also to maintain our poise and dominion. Reflecting the intelligence of God, we act with decisiveness and sound judgment. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 515), "All that God imparts moves in accord with Him, reflecting goodness and power."
