Enduring Peace

From the May 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When, through the lens of Spirit, vision clears,
Material dimness, all that makes less sure
Our trust in God's all-power, disappears.
The focus is on peace when thought is pure.
As Truth brings healing to our sense of sound,
We hear, faintly at first like distant bells,
Chimes of a pure affection so profound
Our deafness yields to Love, where concord dwells.
And when our joyous, liberated thought
Enriches consciousness through timeless graces,
Unlabored is the motion God has wrought,
Calm is the atmosphere of Truth's high places.
Only the pure in heart earn Love's increase,
And active freedom is enduring peace.
