God, Love, is the all-nourishing One who blesses and sustains the whole family of man. In the forty-fifth chapter of the book of Isaiah we read (verse 5), "I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me." One morning a class was discussing this verse in the Christian Science Sunday School, and the teacher asked the children what they understood the passage to mean. One little lad replied, "It means God has always taken care of us." With this simple answer the boy revealed a great spiritual truth. Yes, truly the love of God has ever enfolded and encircled us, though we may not always have discerned it. Because God is All, there is nothing else to gird us; there is no God beside all-inclusive, infinite, divine Love, which cares for its own.
Jesus taught his followers this love of God for all His ideas. He spoke of the Father's care of the sparrows, of the fowls of the air, of the grass, and of the lilies of the field. He declared that the hairs of our head are numbered; that our every need is known to God and already supplied by Him. In proof of these statements he fed multitudes, cleansed sinners, healed and comforted the sick and the brokenhearted, raised to life the dead, and forgave even those who took part in his crucifixion.
Through his divine sonship with God, Jesus was fully conscious of his Father's love for all, and it was his understanding of this basic truth that brought healing to sick humanity. The Master rejected every false belief concerning man that presented itself to his thought for acceptance and replaced it with the true concept of the perfect, spiritual man, created and loved by God. This activity enabled him to demonstrate for all time God's power to care for His entire creation and to hold it safe in perfect being.
