NO INEQUALITIES IN THE DIVINE ECONOMY

From the January 1957 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"ACQUAINT now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee" (Job 22:21). Thus does Job's friend Eliphaz state the rule which, when followed in human activities, evidences the limitless, unrestricted, undepreciating nature of the spiritual substance and goodness of God.

Christian Scientists are discovering that there are no fluctuating values in Spirit, that there are no inequities or inequalities in the divine economy. Inequity is but the figment of mortal belief. True values and stable substantial thinking are the byproduct of one's recognition that God, divine Mind, is the only real source of understanding and being. Job declared that understanding "cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire. The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold."

The value of material things may fluctuate widely, but spiritual values, God's perfect attributes, are endlessly equal, eternally stable. An understanding of spiritual values is important in everything we do. The improved understanding of God's unfluctuating nature is of particular interest today, for example, to those who, for pleasure or business, travel from country to country. It is also of interest to those who desire to travel but who have been deprived of that joy because of acceptance of the general belief that material restrictions interfere with such journeying.
