Christian Science healed me of a glandular deficiency over twenty years ago. Specialists at a well-known clinic had told me that I should take medicine three times a day and have a complete physical examination every six months. I followed this advice for three years.
A friend, whose father had been healed in Christian Science of gall bladder trouble, suggested that I see a Christian Science practitioner. I went to one, and all I remember is that she asked me to learn two verses in Isaiah. One was (41: 10), "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." The other verse begins (43: 10), "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen." I learned these verses and kept them uppermost in my thought. After the second visit to the practitioner, I stopped taking medicine. I have been perfectly normal and have taken no medicine since.
During the Second World War, I needed an apartment near my work. The general opinion was that there were none vacant. I studied pages 2 and 3 of "Pulpit and Press" by Mrs. Eddy. These lines stood out clearly: "The real house in which 'we live, and move, and have our being' is Spirit, God, the eternal harmony of infinite Soul." Whenever a discouraging thought presented itself, I denied it and held to this truth. When I went to a real estate office, the agent said: "Until an hour ago I hadn't had an apartment such as you describe for over two years. Now I have. It is surely amazing." Not only was the apartment in a convenient location, but I found congenial neighbors.
