While writing this testimony I have recalled scores of blessings which have come to me through Christian Science, and I say with the Psalmist (Ps. 36:7), "How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God!"
Many years ago a neighbor lent my mother two copies of the Christian Science Sentinel. My mother then asked to borrow the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which had been referred to many times in the Sentinel. As a result of reading this textbook she was healed of semi-invalidism, from which she had suffered for six years following an operation. Eyestrain, headaches, and the need for wearing glasses were healed at the same time. Before her healing, I had never known her to be well; but during the following twenty-three years of her life she was healthy, happy, and strong, doing all of her housework and caring for a large family.
I was so awed by her quick recovery that I went to the Christian Science Sunday School to learn how she had been healed. The teacher read to me from the textbook (p. 140), "The Christian Science God is universal, eternal, divine Love, which changeth not and causeth no evil, disease, nor death." As I listened to the teacher's explanations, I gained a new concept of angels, as well as of heaven and hell.
