Christian Science has been a blessing to me for more than thirty years. Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, quotes the following statement on page 266 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Man's extremity is God's opportunity." This has proved to be so in my experience.
After a consultation held by three doctors, my family was told that I had a telescoped bowel, which had resulted from peritonitis, and that I could not live for more than six months. After this pronouncement had been made, a member of the family recommended that I try Christian Science. I was in great pain most of the time; so I was glad to try anything that might help. In a very short time after I took up the study of Christian Science, the condition was completely healed through prayerful metaphysical work alone.
However, there were other ailments, including a nervous condition, which also needed to be healed. Through earnest study of the Bible and Science and Health, together with the help of a consecrated Christian Science practitioner, I was completely healed within a year. With this healing came a great desire for a better understanding of this most practical religion. Over the years, God has never failed me when understanding trust has been placed in Him alone.
