From the July 1957 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I can remember the comfort which Christian Science brought to our home when I was a child, and through my early years I felt wrapped in a kind of protective covering, which was what Christian Science meant to me. It was during my college experience that I began to prove that Christian Science is actually usable in everyday living, for then I had the opportunity of instruction in The Mother Church Sunday School and the guidance of a selfless practitioner.

I realized that as a student of Christian Science I must seek friends with high ideals. Through my patient study, the belief that frivolity and excessive attendance at parties must accompany college life was expelled, and I was led to join the Christian Science Organization at the university which I attended and also The Christian Science Monitor Youth Forum. In both groups I learned better than I ever had before how to apply Christian Science. Here I found the like-minded companionship for which I had yearned, and as I learned to give, cherished friendships developed. It was in the Youth Forum that I met the young man who later became my husband.

After our marriage we saw that we would need increased funds, and when we turned to God, channels were shown us in the form of employment for both of us. An opportunity came to me for work in the Christian Science movement, and I enjoyed a long-awaited and uplifting experience. Both of us were beautifully sustained in what might have been a burdensome schedule, and we were able to meet all expenses as they occurred.
