THE CONTINUITY OF GOD'S PURPOSE

From the November 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The prophet Isaiah proclaimed (14:24), "The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand." Truly nothing can impede or delay God's purpose of unfolding eternal good. God is continuously working out His purpose according to His immutable law and with illimitable power.

God's thoughts and ways are infinitely higher than our human ways. With deep humility the faithful Christian Scientist prays to understand God's directing, even though it may be in unexpected ways. He knows that in his consciousness the human must yield to the divine before he can be aware of and obey God's purpose unreservedly. It is not possible to outline infinite Principle. The all-wise Mind will reveal each right step in accordance with God's will.

Paul said (Rom. 8:28), "We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Mortal mind cannot prevent the fulfillment of the Bible promises, because these are based on the unchanging law of God and the continuous manifestation of His design.
