Safety is absolutely and conclusively a mental state. It is not dependent upon reflexes, complexes, or human opinions. Nor does luck or chance enter into the true thought of safety. The safety of man, made in God's image and likeness, must be and forever is under the direction and control of the all-inclusive law of God, good.
Throughout the Bible are many wonderful statements of truth which point out that man's safety is under the government of God. For example, in Deuteronomy (33:27) we find this assurance: "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms." In proverbs (1:33) we read that wisdom said, "Whosoever hearkeneth unto me shall swell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil." And the much-loved ninety-first Psalm begins with the words, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says (Christian Science versus Pantheism, p. 4), "God, Spirit, is indeed the preserver of man." Man is the image of God. But what of the frail mortal concept? This is the counterfeit of God's image.
