I can no longer keep from expressing through the periodicals my deep gratitude for the healing and redemptive powers of Christian Science. My first healing was that of being tongue-tied, a condition with which I was born. The doctor said that an operation would be necessary, but that I probably would never be able to speak clearly. This verdict was reported to my grandfather, who was a Christian Science practitioner, and the condition was healed almost immediately.
My earliest memories are of attending the Christian Science Sunday School, and from that time to this it has been my great privilege to make application of the truths stated in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Healings have been many and varied, each one building to a higher expectation of God's goodness, omnipotence, and omnipresence.
Two healings I received while I was serving as Second Reader in a branch church were so quick, so glorious, and so significant that I want to share them with others. One Saturday morning a frightened puppy with very sharp toenails slashed my face from the center of one eyebrow to the tip of my nose. My first thought was not of fear, but of deep gratitude that I knew Christian Science heals and that God, good, is ever present. I loved the puppy, and I knew that it was in reality one of God's lesser ideas and that it could not hurt another idea of God.
