Testimonies of Healing

The first proof I had of the power and...

From the February 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The first proof I had of the power and presence of God stands out in my experience as a foundational rock. I was living on a homestead in northern Saskatchewan, and we depended upon the success of our crop for our supply. That year the harvesting was delayed for weeks due to rain, which eventually turned to snow.

I turned to God in prayer. Literally and figuratively, I closed my eyes to what was going on around me and remained in prayer for some time. I cannot define my prayer in words; but all at once a great sense of peace and calm came over me, and I knew before looking out of the window that it had stopped snowing. Instantly Jesus' words came to me (John 11:41), "Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me."

Later we learned that it was in our immediate vicinity only that there was scarcely any snow. We were able to harvest without loss; and I never again had any fear of what the weather could do, because I saw that God is our only real source of supply.
