THE WISDOM GOD BESTOWS

From the February 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Divine wisdom, Christian Science affirms, is universal and eternal. Infinite wisdom is impartially bestowed by God upon every idea in His creation. Wisdom is an important aspect of the force which controls and unfolds the universe of Spirit. The wisdom which is of God is identical for all, but it is individually expressed.

There are no gradations of His wisdom, even though there are many variations of expression. Wisdom is as perfect and absolute on earth as it is in heaven, though that truth is not as yet fully cognized or demonstrated in human experience. There is not one type of wisdom for one individual and another type for another, but God's wisdom is one.

The Apostle James pointed out (3:14-16): "If ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work." He then declares, "The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy."
