Because I was reared in Christian Science, I have had blessings from this wonderful truth, and now our children too are finding for themselves that the truth heals and blesses them. I should like to tell of an experience I had over seven years ago.
Very early one morning two diesel locomotives, one of which I was operating, met head-on with terrific impact. My fireman, the engineer of the other train, and I were only shaken up; but the fireman of the other one was badly injured and was not expected to live through the night.
Just as the accident was happening, I made positive declarations of the truth concerning the presence of God and man's safety in Him. After seeing the condition of both engines, I felt grateful that I could walk away unharmed. The thing I could not seem to clear out of my thought was the condition of the fireman on the other engine. A Christian Science practitioner pointed out to me that I could not work specifically for him since he was not a student of Christian Science and had not asked for help. But of course I could clear my thought concerning the whole picture and see only God's perfect creation.
