IT is the privilege of the Christian Science practitioner to help others to help themselves. He learns that through helping his brother, he helps himself, thus in proper sequence increasing his ability to apply the healing truth of Christian Science.
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes of Christ Jesus (p. 18): "His mission was both individual and collective. He did life's work aright not only in justice to himself, but in mercy to mortals,-to show them how to do theirs, but not to do it for them nor to relieve them of a single responsibility."
In justice to himself the Christian Science practitioner is working out his own salvation from the belief of life in matter, while in mercy to others he helps them to help themselves. Thus he follows the example of Jesus, on whose teaching and demonstration Mrs. Eddy patterned the method of Christian Science practice.
