BECAUSE all the ideas of God, divine Mind, are equally perfect, equally pure and harmonious, they cannot be compared with each other.
Even among human beings there is little basis for comparison, for all vary as to temperament, background, and circumstances. The tendency to make comparisons between oneself and others may result in either a sense of inferiority or superiority, neither of which is conductive to spiritual growth. According to the old saying, "Comparisons are odious."
One who comprehends through his study of Christian Science that man's real, spiritual being, made in God's likeness, is complete, perfect, and continuously harmonious is no longer tempted to compare himself unfavorably with others or to feel inferior to them. Through progress in spiritual understanding, the student attains unselfishness, purity, and loving-kindness, and as he manifests these and other constructive qualities consistently in his daily living, he experiences harmony and satisfaction.
