Two mothers were discussing the heavy responsibilities parents now have in rearing their children. They both agreed that the threats of war and destruction, the high cost of living, the various temptations rampant in the world today, the heavy burden of responsibility, were taking much of the joy out of present-day parenthood.
Upon hearing this conversation, a student of Christian Science could not help feeling extremely grateful for the comfort which she had found as a parent through the study of this great truth. She was so grateful that Christian Science had revealed to her early in her study that God is man's only real parent. She recalled that when she was most aware of this scientific fact, she was most relieved from a false sense of responsibility and burdens as a human parent.
Christ Jesus understood better than anyone the nature of man's true parentage. He knew God to be the Father of man and his only real parent. Jesus said (Matt. 23:9), "Call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven."
