Christian Science explains that the nature of one's real being is Godlike, since man is the expression of God. Students of this religion are taught to claim their true nature, identify themselves with it, and demonstrate their real character in thought and conduct. Then the power of God is found to be no longer a theory but a motivating influence in their daily experience.
In her book "Pulpit and Press," Mrs. Eddy tells us how to demonstrate real being and doing. She writes (p. 4): "You have simply to preserve a scientific, positive sense of unity with your divine source, and daily demonstrate this. Then you will find that one is as important a factor as duodecillions in being and doing right, and thus demonstrating deific Principle."
Christ Jesus said (John 5:19), "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." This statement implies that the individual whose consciousness is imbued with Christlike humility and who acknowledges his dependence upon God for his existence reflects the ability from Him that was exemplified by the Master in healing the sick and the sinning.
