OUR WARFARE WITH ERROR

From the November 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There is a war going on. We are in it.

We can win. Christian Science is at war with false belief. In this as in any war, victory will not come by our waiting for it to come. Victory requires sacrifice; but when the cause is great, the sacrifice is crowned with the joy of accomplishment. The alternative, defeat, is unthinkable.

Missiles, bombs, atomic fallout, psychological propaganda, these are but mortal mind's paraphernalia. The war which Christian Science wages is a mental war. The enemy has other names—sin, error, mortality, personal sense, death—but the enemy is the same, the belief in a power opposed to God. A victory over this belief will remove the paraphernalia. Physical war will come to an end.
