GOD REVEALS MAN'S TRUE STATUS

From the November 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As a manifold blessing to mankind Christian Science has brought into sharp focus the teachings of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, wherein is revealed the true status of man. The first chapter of Genesis records that God created man in His likeness. Then in the Book of Isaiah, God reveals through the prophet the spiritual status of His children thus: "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen" (43:10). This divine edict is irresistible and irreversible.

Proof of mankind's ability to reflect God-bestowed power was abundantly supplied in the Old Testament in such a demonstration as that of Moses, who led the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage, or of Elisha, who raised the Shunammite woman's son from the dead, or of the three Hebrew men, who escaped unharmed from the furnace of fire, or of Daniel, who was delivered unharmed from the lions' den. All these victories over various phases of the one evil were the result of mankind's God-bestowed ability to cope successfully with all forms of aggressive mental suggestion that would misrepresent man's true status.

Nothing has ever happened to change or to nullify God's mandate that man has perpetual dominion over all the earth. God can no more be deprived of His witness than the sun can lose its rays. Spiritual man and the universe remain forever intact as divine Love's changeless, boundless, and perfect expression.
