PERFECTION THE BASIS OF HEALING

From the November 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The perfection of God and of His spiritual creation is the basis upon which all healing in Christian Science is accomplished. The Psalmist sang, "Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined" (Ps. 50:2).

In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy gives us these cogent truths (p. 470): "God is the creator of man, and, the divine Principle of man remaining perfect, the divine idea or reflection, man, remains perfect." She adds later in the same paragraph: "If man has lost perfection, then he has lost his perfect Principle, the divine Mind. If man ever existed without this perfect Principle or Mind, then man's existence was a myth."

The perfection of God and of the spiritual man is indissolubly established as the true status of being. God being all-inclusive good, the attribute of goodness is inherent in His every idea. Good cannot manifest evil, nor can perfection beget imperfection. Where spiritual perfection is, law, order, and harmony are operating. It is only in the so-called human realm that we seem to encounter imperfection, manifested as sin, disease, death, and other discords.
