THE precious talent which each of us receives from God is the ability to be spiritual and to discern real identity, God's perfect man, as our true nature and as the nature of others. Mrs. Eddy writes in "No and Yes" (p. 12): "Christian Science Mind-healing can only be gained by working from a purely Christian standpoint. Then it heals the sick and exalts the race. The essence of this Science is right thinking and right acting—leading us to see spirituality and to be spiritual, to understand and to demonstrate God."
True spirituality appears as we understand God to be all-harmonious Spirit, the center and circumference of all true being. This enlightened understanding includes the realization that the real man, created by God, is spiritual, hence perfect. In the realm of unerring Soul the talent of spirituality discloses man's true identity, through which are developed happy, healthful, and successful lives.
Humanly expressed, our spirituality is our Christliness, the activity of the Christ, the divine ideal, manifesting itself in human consciousness. In order to claim and to enjoy our divine heritage of spirituality, we must recognize this talent, appreciate its value in our lives, and strive earnestly to expand and develop it. The cultivation and development of spirituality, with its ensuing good effects, may be assured only as we utilize the mighty facts of God's allness, His omnipotent goodness, and the real man's inviolable relation to Him, and apply these healing truths insistently to the problems of daily living. Only if we work thus on the side of omnipotent Spirit will our talent be nurtured and brought into full view, revealing the reward of all spiritual growth—the superabundance of being.
