Testimonies of Healing

Although Christian Science was presented...

From the November 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Although Christian Science was presented to me two or three times during a twenty-year period, I did not turn to it for help until a mental disturbance, manifesting itself in the form of fear for our children, so engulfed me in darkness and helplessness that life held no interest for me, and all I could think of was how it could be brought to an end. Then urged by my loving husband, I consented to have him call the Christian Science Wartime Minister (as such workers were then called) for the post at which my husband was stationed at the time.

After about three days, during which the Minister spent hours talking of Christian Science to me and prayerfully working for me, I suddenly awoke to the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words on page 468 of Science and Health, "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." I reasoned: "Well, if God is All, what am I so concerned about? These are really God's children, His spiritual offspring, and as such they are His concern." With that realization, I found that the words of the Psalmist were also true of me (Ps. 40:2), "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings."

During the following two years, slowly but surely, healings brought about through the understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him established in our family's experience a firm faith in the ever-present, tender care of divine Love, and this firm faith replaced our dependence on material and medical means for healing.
