"THE UNITY OF SCIENCE AND CHRISTIANITY"

From the November 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"It has been said, and truly, that Christianity must be Science, and Science must be Christianity, else one or the other is false and useless; but neither is unimportant or untrue, and they are alike in demonstration. This proves the one to be identical with the other." So writes Mrs. Eddy on page 135 of Science and Health, under the marginal heading "The unity of Science and Christianity."

Almost a century ago Christian Science, or the Science of Christianity, was discovered by Mrs. Eddy. Through divine power alone she recovered from the effects of a severe accident which doctors had pronounced fatal. After this experience our Leader turned to a deep and consecrated study of the Bible. It was not until her discovery and founding of Christian Science and the writing and publication of the textbook, Science and Health, in 1875 that the true solution to every problem that besets human existence was explained to the world.

Mrs. Eddy draws aside for all men the heavy curtain of materialism by showing them how to spiritualize thought. In the inspired pages of the textbook the way is revealed by which all mankind may be redeemed from sin, disease, and finally death. Christian Science teaches that the spiritualization of thought enables one to demonstrate the Science of Christianity as Christ Jesus did.
