WISDOM'S SEVEN PILLARS

From the November 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Proverbs we read (9:1), "Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars." Christian Science, divine wisdom, has indeed "hewn out her seven pillars," for it presents God in His allness and infinitude as the one Mind, divine Truth, Life, Love, Spirit, Soul, and Principle.

This Science is based upon the fundamental spiritual fact that God, good, is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. From this immovable basis it presents the self-evident conclusion that all that is real and good exists within this divine allness and must therefore reflect God's glorious nature and selfhood. Christian Science proves with divine logic that what to human sense is evil, harmful, changeable, and impermanent has no place in reality. Thus evil's existence is shown to be illusion or falsehood, for it could not have been created by a wholly good and intelligent God.

Referring to Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy states in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 364): "It is not a search after wisdom, it is wisdom: it is God's right hand grasping the universe,—all time, space, immortality, thought, extension, cause, and effect; constituting and governing all identity, individuality, law, and power. It stands on this Scriptural platform: that He made all that was made, and it is good, reflects the divine Mind, is governed by it; and that nothing apart from this Mind, one God, is self-created or evolves the universe."
