A sister of mine in Canada who had been healed of tuberculosis through Science wrote and recommended that I visit a Christian Science practitioner, because for months I had experienced severe pain night and day in my back and in one leg. I had had many different kinds of medical treatment but had received only temporary relief. Finally after almost a year of suffering, during which a doctor had said that my days were numbered because of high blood pressure and a heart condition, I made an appointment with the practitioner living near me. When I started to tell her the history of my case, she recommended that I give her the details after my healing! She saw that I was in pain, and she explained that what I needed was to learn more of God and of man's true relationship to Him, of the great Physician and His goodness to and love for man, His child.
I earnestly studied the references from the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy which she gave me, together with the Bible Lesson, published in the Quarterly. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was hardly ever out of my hands. I discarded the many medicines I had been taking, visited the Reading Room, attended Christian Science church services, and heard a lecture on this religion. About two months later I became aware that the pain was gone. There has been no recurrence of the trouble.
The wonderful thing was that I realized at the same time that a rash which had covered my body for several months, three external growths, chronic constipation, the high blood pressure, and the heart ailment had all disappeared. Loose teeth became tightened, and an arthritic condition in my fingers, for which I previously had been having injections, was healed. My husband attended the Christian Science church with me and was healed of migraine, for which he had taken medicine for years.
