At the time of my introduction to Christian Science...

From the November 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At the time of my introduction to Christian Science, although I was happily married and had a baby son who was then some months old, I was still a lonely person needing a friend at hand. I found it rather hard to mix with people. At that time there was a change of tenants in the house next door to us, and I prayed earnestly that it might be possible for me to make friends with the new neighbors. I soon realized these were the kind of people I had been praying to know, for they were Christian Scientists. Thus my prayer was answered.

I knew nothing of Science at that time but soon saw a difference in their way of life from ours, and it was through this family that I had my introduction to Science.

I was given a copy of the Sentinel to read and found the articles very uplifting and inspiring. I was at the time under medical direction, taking tablets for a condition which was an aftereffect of a surgical operation I had had sixteen years before. This had left a weakness and discomfort which the tablets seemed to relieve. After taking the tablets for so many years I felt I could not do without them.
