Our great Leader, Mrs. Eddy, writes in Science and Health (p. 178), "Heredity is not a law." This short and powerful statement has been proved true in my experience and has brought me lasting freedom.
Asthma was considered hereditary and incurable on both sides of my family, and as a young child I suffered from this malady in a severe form.
No one in the family had ever been cured of asthma, but some had gained relief by change of climate; so when I was old enough I was sent to different parts of the United States where there were different climates and altitudes. At first I would be much better; but as soon as the newness wore off and the old habits of thinking and the old fears returned, I would get worse until I would have to leave that place.
