GOD measures man in terms of spirituality. Good deeds, pure motives, righteous acts, divinely intuitive thoughts, all these bear witness to God's standard of excellency.
The consecrated Christian Scientist renounces false, material concepts, such as carelessness, negligence, apathy, indifference, headlong impulsiveness. He accepts and puts to use the divine attributes he reflects, all of which are at hand to reverse erring mortal tendencies.
As Christlike qualities are expressed, including humility, obedience, patience, gratitude, perseverance, they bring out one's spiritual stature. They elevate the individual above a mortal state of mere commonplace mediocrity to the plane of practical idealism, where he apprehends the full measurement of man, made in the image of God, as is revealed in Genesis (1:27), "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him." The student of Christian Science accepts without reservation the truth that this man cannot be mediocre, but reflects and expresses naturally only that which is Godlike.
