IT is through Spirit's infinite attraction that men and women are drawn to God. This eternal, spiritual impulsion attends all that is truly good and pure in human experience, for real attraction expresses the omnipotence and tenderness of Love.
The fundamental law of true attraction is expressed in striking words by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health. Here our Leader writes (p. 102): "There is but one real attraction, that of Spirit. The pointing of the needle to the pole symbolizes this all-embracing power or the attraction of God, divine Mind." Evil, like a compass needle made of glass, knows not this attraction and knows no true power or impulsion.
Purity, holiness, spiritual love, are attributes of God. These manifestations of Spirit are forever embodied in man; they cause him to respond to no command other than God's, to answer no call other than His. When qualities such as these are dominant in human consciousness, they ensure obedience to the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount. They enforce the moral law and protect the individual from the claims of false attraction, animal magnetism, or evil influence.
