ANNOUNCEMENT
The Christian Science Board of Directors
Establishment of the new post of Executive Assistant to The Christian Science Board of Directors was announced by the Board. Charles Henry Gabriel has resigned as Publishers' Agent of the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy to accept appointment to the new position, effective April 1.
As Executive Assistant to the Board of Directors, Mr. Gabriel will take over the present duties of the Manager of the Executive Office, together with other responsibilities concerned with general administration as assigned to him by the Board of Directors.
The Directors announced that Miss Hazel A. Firth, for many years Manager of the Executive Office, has retired after fifty years of uninterrupted service to The Mother Church. Her service as Manager of the Executive Office began in 1938.
Mr. Gabriel came to Boston as Publishers' Agent in 1958. While Publishers' Agent, he was responsible to the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy for the printing and binding of the published writings of Mrs. Eddy and for their sale throughout the world.
A native of San Francisco, Mr. Gabriel has had wide administrative experience. Following his graduation from the University of California at Berkeley, he became assistant to the production manager of a West Coast advertising agency. He rose from that position to that of general manager of the New York office and vice-president of the company.
Mr. Gabriel has been active in Christian Science since his early Sunday School days. He was an active member of the Christian Science organization at college, and he joined First Church of Christ, Scientist, San Francisco, immediately upon graduation from Sunday School. He joined The Mother Church in 1928 and received Primary class instruction in 1947. He resigned from business activities in 1950 to devote his full time to the public practice of Christian Science. While a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, San Rafael, California, he served as First Reader and member of its Board of Trustees.
ANNOUNCEMENT
Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy
Appointment of Clem W. Collins of Los Altos, California, as Publishers' Agent, effective May 1, was announced by the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy. Mr. Collins succeeds Charles Henry Gabriel, whose appointment as Executive Assistant to The Christian Science Board of Directors was announced simultaneously.
Mr. Collins will be responsible to the Trustees for the printing and binding of Mrs. Eddy's published writings, as well as for the sale of these writings throughout the world.
Mr. Collins is a native of Denver, Colorado, and a graduate of the University of Denver School of Business Administration. During World War II he held the rank of lieutenant commander in the Navy, serving in the South Pacific and in the Bureau of Ordnance in Washington. He entered sales work, but was recalled to Washington by the Navy during the Korean conflict. Following completion of service with the Navy in 1953, he entered the full-time public practice of Christian Science.
He attended the Sunday School of Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, Denver, from early childhood and joined that branch church and The Mother Church in 1940. He received Primary class instruction in 1952. He has been active in branch churches in several different parts of the United States, including service as First Reader and executive board president. Mr. Collins has also served as a Christian Science Minister for the Armed Services. He is a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Los Altos, California.
PAPERBACK EDITION OF "SCIENCE AND HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES" BY MARY BAKER EDDY
An attractive new edition, in paperback, of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy has been announced by the publishers of all Mrs. Eddy's writings: the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy. The new edition, priced at $1.95, is available at all Christian Science Reading Rooms; and, through a special arrangement, the publishing firm of Harper and Row will act as a distributor for the book to high-quality paperback commercial bookstores throughout the world.
Release of this new edition means that the Christian Science textbook will take its place in the rapidly expanding field of quality paperback books alongside the world's great classics as well as leading serious books of our own day. Thus it will become easily accessible, in an inexpensive edition, to college and university students and to many people who might not otherwise know of it.
The new edition will greatly expand its availability in bookstores beyond that of the hardback Trade Edition, which for many years has been obtainable through commercial bookdealers. It is noteworthy too that the textbook was sold in bookstores during Mrs. Eddy's lifetime.
Publication of this authorized edition by the Trustees under her Will ensures that for the years to come a correct, authentic, complete edition of the textbook will continue to be available in the paperback market and will continue to hold the preeminent place there which rightly belongs to it. Absolute accuracy of the book is ensured by the fact that the type of the authorized Seventy-fifth Anniversary Edition, with the pages slightly reduced by a photographic process, is being used. A handsome and dignified cover identifies the volume. It is plainly marked with the registered trademarks for authorized editions—Mrs. Eddy's signature and the cross and crown emblem.
With books on virtually all religions, written from both friendly and critical points of view, appearing in the paperback field, it is highly desirable that authentic literature on Christian Science should be available in this form. It was clearly Mrs. Eddy's desire that the Christian Science textbook should become as widely known as possible and easily available to every individual who is receptive to its message. This new edition is another step in this direction and will do its part to make the healing power of Christian Science universally known.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
When you send a remittance to the Publishing Society, do you always send with your check or money order something to tell us what it is for? The "something" may be a periodical renewal notice, or the part of our bill on which your name and address are typed, or a brief note to tell us how you wish to have the payment used. We shall be grateful for your help in this way.

NOTES FROM THE PUBLISHING SOCIETY
New Pamphlet
Announcement is made of a new pamphlet, "'The time for thinkers,'" containing four articles reprinted from The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel. Price 20 cents a copy.
MONITOR RELIGIOUS ARTICLE
Members of The Mother Church are invited to submit suitable religious articles for The Home Forum page of The Christian Science Monitor. A leaflet explaining the purpose of these articles and containing helpful information about the preparation of them is available from the Journal, Sentinel, and Herald Editorial Department, where they are reviewed and edited for publication.
The Monitor religious article is usually accompanied by a language translation in Afrikaans, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, or Swedish. Through these translations, people in many parts of the world are learning of Christian Science and receiving help and encouragement.
These articles are intended to appeal to all readers of the Monitor, regardless of religious background.
SUBMITTING TESTIMONIES
Convincing testimonies of healing in Christian Science are welcomed for publication from members of The Mother Church and from students who are not members. If possible, they should be typed, triple spaced, on one side of the paper only and with wide margins. A testimony should be concise and include only the important points necessary to tell of the healings. Thus more testimonies can be published. Testimonies should be signed by the testifier and verified by three members of The Mother Church who can vouch for the integrity of the testifier or have witnessed the healings. If the testifier is unacquainted with three members, his affidavit may be sufficient, but in this case he should, if possible, obtain verification from one or two members. The testifier should submit the verifications with the testimony. Complete addresses of the testifier and his vouchers should be furnished.
Testimonies should be addressed to Journal, Sentinel, and Herald Editorial Department, One Norway Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
