PATIENT PERSEVERANCE

From the June 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

IN Isaiah (42:8) we read, "I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images." This positive declaration, as explained by Christian Science, emphasizes not only the absolute supremacy of God, good, but also the spiritual fact that all that is truly good and perfect exists within His glorious omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience, untouched by evil, deterioration, and dissolution.

This scientific truth is stated and restated in many ways, both in the Holy Scriptures and in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. In the degree that it is utilized in human experience, it becomes the law of correction and healing to every problem presenting itself. Negative error must dissolve in the application of this law, as darkness gives way before the light of day.

One indispensable requirement in this endeavor is patient perseverance, for false material sense, in its stubborn claim to reality, would dispute and deny the allness of good and its uninvadable harmony. When the high purpose of demonstrating God's allness and glory is faithfully and prayerfully held in thought, mortal suggestions of fear, as well as material urgings and limitations, lose their seeming influence or control, and the human consciousness becomes increasingly receptive to spiritual revelation and healing.
